The Huntington Bob Evans Restaurant was one of 20 restaurants that was put on the chopping block in April for under performance.

According to a Bob Evans press release, the restaurant chain will close 20 stores during this fiscal year, though most will be closed by the end of May.

The company announced on April 29 that 20 restaurants will close after a comprehensive, unit-level performance review of the company's restaurant portfolio.

"Closing a restaurant is a difficult decision as it directly impacts our guests and employees," Bob Evans Chief Financial Officer Mark Hood said in the release. "These restaurants, however, despite efforts to improve performance, were not meeting expectations."

Hood said the company will assist impacted employees by offering positions in nearby restaurants or offering severance benefits for both part-time and full-time employees if relocation is not possible.

Bob Evans owns 16 of the 20 restaurants affected and will seek to sell those properties, resulting in an estimated $15 to $17 million in proceeds.
