Indiana University President Michael McRobbie recommended tuition not increase for Indiana residents on the Bloomington campus over the next two years, according to a press release from the university on Wednesday.

"These tuition recommendations reinforce our commitment to student affordability while allowing us to advance a positive agenda for IU’s future that is consistent with the needs of the state," McRobbie said in the release.

McRobbie’s recommendation to the IU Board of Trustees comes less than a week after Purdue University President Mitch Daniels recommended his school freeze tuition for the fourth year in a row and allocate more for salaries.

In 2011, a new fee schedule called for in-state undergraduate tuition and fees to increase by 3.5 percent. In 2013, the university added an increase of 1.75 percent for both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 academic years.
