ANDERSON — Monthly revenue reports released by the Indiana Gaming Commission show June was a good month for Hoosier Park Racing & Casino in Anderson.

The racino brought in almost $1 million more during June 2015 than it did during June last year, bumping its total win from $16 million to $16.9 million.

This marks the second month in a row Hoosier Park has seen growth from last year to this year and reverses a tough two-month streak earlier in 2015, when it saw declines in March and April.

Hoosier Park was one of six Indiana casinos with better June numbers this year compared to last year and had the biggest improvement in terms of total dollars. French Lick and Belterra Casino both improved more than $500,000 compared with last year.

As a state, though, numbers continue to drop. In June 2014, the casinos brought in about $179 million. This year, that number was only $175 million. Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg continued to see steep declines in part because of the new land-based casino in Cincinnati. Hollywood's June revenue dropped more than $2 million from $15.5 million in 2014 to $13.3 million last month.

The Horseshoe Casino in Hammond also suffered through a tough June compared to 2014's numbers. The biggest and busiest casino in Indiana, Horseshoe's revenue dropped from $35.1 million in June 2014 to $32.7 million this June.

Indiana Grand, Hoosier Park's sister racino, also saw a slight drop, dipping from $20.3 million to $19.8 million.

Land-based gaming was recently approved by the Indiana General Assembly, allowing Indiana riverboat casinos to move gaming tables on land as long as they stay inside the casino's existing footprint. The move was an attempt to make Indiana's casinos more competitive with neighboring states. Live, land-based dealers were not approved for Hoosier Park or Indiana Grand in Shelbyville.
