JEFFERSONVILLE — All three towers of the new downtown crossing are now complete and “very visible” as work continues on the Ohio River Bridges Project, according to a news release.

The towers are atop three of the nine piers that span along the Interstate 65 bridge, the tallest in the middle topping out at 280 feet and the other two on either side of the Ohio River at 230 feet.

The project reached another milestone by connecting the Indiana approach to the bridge deck at the nearest tower.

Crews will now set additional structural steel and install stay cables on all three towers. The concrete overlay that will make up the surface of the bridge will be poured late this fall.

The new crossing will open to two-way traffic in January.
