The Columbus Area Arts Council will host the Region 9 Grants Awards Ceremony Thursday, Aug. 20, at 5 p.m. in the Donner Center multi-purpose room, 739 22nd St., Columbus, said regional coordinator Jeff Kuehl.

State Sen. Greg Walker (R-Greenwood) and state Rep. Eric Allan Koch R-Bedford) are scheduled to greet grant recipients and the public. Light refreshments will be served.

The total amount awarded within the region was $90,294.

Seventeen organizations will receive funding in the Arts Organizational Support and Arts Project Support categories for the 2015-16 grant cycle from the Indiana Arts Commission Regional Initiative Grant program.

The recipients and grant amounts:

• Ripley County: Rural Alliance for the Arts, $6,449; New Horizons Rehabilitation, $4,275

• Dearborn County: Dearborn Highlands Arts Council, $5,514; ARC of Dearborn County, $4,275

• Decatur County: Arts and Cultural Council of Decatur County, $5,514; Greensburg High School, $4,275

• Bartholomew County: Columbus Pro Music, $12,894; Dancer’s Studio, $6,449; Columbus Scottish Festival, $4,275; Columbus City Band, $4,275; Lincoln Central Neighborhood Family Center, $4,275; Columbus Symphony, $4,275

• Jackson County: Southern Indiana Center for the Arts, $6,449; Jackson County Community Theatre, $4,275; Actor’s Community Theatre of Seymour, $4,275

• Jennings County: Our Heritage Inc., $4,275

• Switzerland County: Switzerland County Historical Society, $4,275.

The Indiana Arts Commission established the Regional Partnership Initiative in 1995 to better provide arts services to Hoosiers. The Columbus Area Arts Council is the Regional Arts Partner for the southeastern Indiana region, which covers Bartholomew, Dearborn, Decatur, Franklin, Jackson, Jennings, Ohio, Ripley and Switzerland counties.
