Community support is key to winning a national competition that could provide funding to build a multipurpose YMCA facility at Ivy Tech Community College in Lafayette, Mayor Tony Roswarski said.

Roswarski on Monday announced a call-out for local school-age children to participate in focus groups on Sunday at MatchBOX Coworking Studio. Ideas about ways they enjoy learning generated during those meetings will help the team prepare the quarterfinalist submission to the America’s Best Communities competition.

The project named Intersection Connection was one of 50 across the country selected in April to compete in the quarterfinal round of the America's Best Communities contest.

Intersection Connection is a joint venture that would combine the resources of the YMCA, Ivy Tech Community College, Junior Achievement and IU Health Arnett.
