David Henry Jacobs has announced a $20 million gift to the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, bringing IU’s bicentennial campaign fundraising total to nearly $1.2 billion from close to 204,000 donors.

Jacobs studied at the music school in the 1970s, and his mother gifted $40.6 million there in 2005. In 2006, it adopted the Jacobs name after David's parents Barbara and David. The majority of the $20 million gift will fund the Jacobs Family Bicentennial Scholars and Fellows in Honor of Charles H. Webb. The rest will go toward establishing endowments to fund a deanship, faculty support, research, scholarships, student travel, library needs and other initiatives.
