West Lafayette-based DelMar Software Development plans to create 50 new jobs by 2019 and invest $1.7 million to double its office space in Purdue Research Park, the company announced Tuesday.

The custom software development firm builds user-friendly Web, desktop and mobile software that organizes large data sets to help startups and established companies across the nation launch a software-based line of business, according to the company.

The expansion comes as traditional businesses are increasingly turning to software-enabled solutions for big data problems, DelMar co-founder Mikel Berger said.

"Our growth is both because of the growth of the software products we have built for our current clients and also because of the increased demand for software development services across all sectors in Greater Lafayette," Berger said.

Tippecanoe County approved economic incentives for the expansion at the request of Greater Lafayette Commerce, Commissioner Tom Murtaugh said.

"It is a testament to our positive business environment, quality of life and the company's confidence in continued success here," he said.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered DelMar up to $97,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $30,000 in training grants based on the company's hiring plans.
