Science, technology, engineering and math skills aren’t only developed in class, according to Indiana parents. STEM lessons are learned when kids stick around for programs after school.

When Afterschool Alliance surveyed more than  13,000 parents in the U.S. and 251 in Indiana, they found 65 percent of parents felt their kids got STEM skill development when they participated in activities during the hours after school.

“These new data make clear that parents in Indiana recognize the value of the STEM education afterschool programs can provide. Indiana and the nation will be better positioned to succeed in tomorrow’s economy if we make after school STEM education offerings even more robust,” said Afterschool Alliance Executive Director Jodi Grant in a news release.
