Tropicana Evansville turned in a middle-of-the-pack performance in gambling revenues and visitation last month, according to a report released this week.

The casino reported earning almost $9.6 million from its table games and electronic gaming machines in September. That represents a 1-percent decline as compared with September 2014.

Taken as a group, Indiana's casinos reported about $174.6 million in gambling revenues last month, essentially unchanged from a year ago.

Majestic Star Casino in Northwest Indiana reported the largest year-over-year revenue decline. It earned nearly $6.9 million, down 13 percent from a year ago. The French Lick Casino reported the largest revenue gain. It reported more than $6.5 million in revenue, up 9 percent over last year.

Turning to visitation, many of the state's casino's — including Tropicana — saw fewer visitors last month as compared with a year earlier.

Tropicana reported 90,781 visitors in September, down 5 percent from a year ago. At three casinos — Majestic Star and Majestic Star II, and Horseshoe in Southern Indiana — visitation was down 11 percent year-over-year.

The Rising Star Casino in Southeastern Indiana posted the strongest visitation numbers, reporting a 5-percent gain.

As a whole, Indiana's casinos brought in 1,351,891 people in September, down 9 percent from a year earlier.

Several properties, including the French Lick Casino, do not report their admissions statistics.

All these numbers come from the Indiana Gaming Commission's September revenue report, which was released this week.
