ANDERSON — The Flagship Enterprise Center Loan Program has been ranked the second-largest Small Business Administration micro-lender in the nation, based on dollars loaned, for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30 according to a media release from the Flagship.

With nearly $1.7 million in loan closings during the year, FEC moved to within $51,000 of the nation’s largest microlender. The Flagship closed 83 loans during the period, which represented 82 percent of all Indiana SBA microloans.

The Flagship Enterprise Center is a regional technology-based business incubator and micro-lender in Anderson. The Flagship Microloan Program was established in 2010 to assist Flagship clients and partners with small businesses through financial services and resources that foster economic development in under-served communities.

Created through a partnership between the city of Anderson and Anderson University, the Flagship lending programs have helped create more than 225 loans and have provided small business assistance totaling more than $4.5 million.
