The Shelbyville City Council on Monday approved the bicycle/pedestrian master plan which will become part of the city's comprehensive plan.
Consultant Ken Remenschneider said having the bicycle/pedestrian master plan will help the city should it seek INDOT funding for improvement projects.
"This bicycle/pedestrian master plan is a planning document. So as you do public improvement projects within these corridors, these facilities would realistically be part of those improvement projects. It also, adopted into your comprehensive plan, will assist you in getting funding when you have INDOT corridors in which you are planning improvements," Remenschneider said.
