Two new hotels will be built on Evansville's East Side this year.

According to the Dunn Hospitality Group's website, a four-story Holiday Inn Express and a Homes2 Suites will join Hampton Inn, Fairfield Inn, Hilton Garden Inn and Courtyard by Mariott on the south side of the Lloyd Expressway near Interstate 69.

"We feel like the market can support the addition of these two hotels," said David Dunn, the Dunn Hospitality Group president.

According to the commercial building permits, the Holiday Inn Express will cost about $650,000 in construction while Suites2 Homes will cost $695,000. Both will include an attached garaged and an indoor pool.

The Homes2, which is by Hilton, targets those wanting a place for extended stays. Dunn said they believe about 60 percent of the customers will be there for seven nights or more. It's also pet friendly, and will boast 67,125 square feet.

"This all-suite hotel is designed to meet the needs of smart and savvy guests," according to the website. Its address will be 7901 E. Walnut St.

Dunn said the Homes2 is a new Hilton product, and not many have been built yet.

The Holiday Inn Express will have 93 rooms and will be about 55,595 square feet, according to the permit application. Its address will be 300 Kirkwood Drive. The new Holiday Inn Express will replace the Holiday Inn Express on the north side of the road on Circle Front Drive. Dunn said they re-purposed the Holiday Inn Express on Circle Front Drive from a Country Inn and Suites, and the plan is to re-purpose it back to the former brand.
