SOUTH BEND — Saint Mary's College plans to seek an agreement with the University of Notre Dame and Holy Cross College that addresses steps to be followed when a case of reported sexual assault involves students from at least two of the campuses.

That's among the recommendations in a report released Friday by Saint Mary's Presidential Task Force on Sexual Violence.

Such a memo should clearly identify procedures and potential sanctions on each of the campuses, and allow students on all three campuses to clearly understand the processes, the committee report states.

Saint Mary's also plans to create a standing committee on sexual violence and conduct a sexual violence climate survey, as many colleges across the country have done in recent years.

Saint Mary's President Carol Ann Mooney created the task force of students, faculty and staff a year ago to examine the issue of sexual assault and sexual misconduct as it affects students.

The task force was formed after the release of a film documentary, "The Hunting Ground," about the issue of sexual violence on college campuses. Three sexual assault cases involving Notre Dame and Saint Mary's students were highlighted in the film.
