Business group hopes to promote Hagerstown

Six business people started the group in 2015. Its purposes will be to promote Hagerstown and welcome new businesses, she said. 

Town council member Brian Longbons made a strong plea for the group to become involved with the Main Street program.

Main Street is a statewide program that provides resources to help participating towns and cities maintain healthy downtowns.

Longbons said the town “is seriously looking at redoing all infrastructure on Main Street,” including water, sewage, electric and the streetscape by 2019 and wants to seek funding grants from the state program. 

Nugent said group members are not sure The Heart of Hagerstown is ready to commit to being part of the Main Street program. Once the group is up and running, some members may become involved in that, depending on their interest.
