Officials of the Rush County Economic & Community Development Corp. have received the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) Hometown Collaboration Initiative Grant Agreement.

“What this means is that OCRA has accepted our application to begin our capstone project, and will award $10,000 to help move this project forward,” Executive Director of the ECDC John McCane said.

The capstone project is to create an entrepreneurial website. This website will be all inclusive of everything related to starting or growing a small business in Rush County. The HCI Team created a site map of what was needed, then disseminated a Request for Proposals for a website developer. After review and interviews, the team chose CS Kern as the company to develop this site. They will be working with this company over the next several months to assemble information and content. The RushCountyBiz.com website will establish a “no wrong door” portal to strengthen the entrepreneurship environment in Rush County. This site will also provide a place to highlight and celebrate local entrepreneurs and provide a business-to-business directory.

“We want to support the growth and development of entrepreneurship in this community – not just the City of Rushville, but the entire county,” Carolyn Bunzendahl of the ECDC said. “The website will be a one-stop shop to answer all your small business questions or connect you with someone who can.
