Eight new townhomes, along with three condos and new retail space, will be completed next year behind the new YMCA, the city announced today in a press release.

As part of The Market Street Townhomes, each unit will have a distinctive look and feature a two-car garage. The townhomes will average 2,225 square feet, with the largest being 3,300 square feet.

The townhomes are expected to be complete in May 2017.

“The Market Street townhomes are a perfect fit for the Kokomo housing market,” said Scott Pitcher of Fortune Companies. “The architecture will integrate this project into the surrounding neighborhood as if it has been there from the beginning. There is a high demand for this kind of residential product. Four of the eight townhomes have already been pre-sold.”

All of the townhomes will have an individual and unique look. The interiors will feature stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors on main floor, granite countertops and premium finishes throughout the space, according to the release.

The two-car garages are oriented to the alley and will provide private, secure parking. Each unit will have a small yard for additional green space.

“People want to live, work and play in walkable neighborhoods,” said Mayor Greg Goodnight in the release. “This new private development addresses the need for more diverse housing options while redeveloping an underutilized lot. It fits in with our overall urban infill philosophy.”
