MUNCIE — With FBI agents on hand in recent weeks, officials and employees at Muncie City Hall are in denial or disbelief about the ongoing probe.

"Some of the department heads are really disappointed, the ones who have never been in politics before," one city hall insider told The Star Press. "Some of the new department heads are flabbergasted. Some of the older ones have been there.

"It's not 1970. It's not 1980. You can't just do anything you want."

The Star Press recently interviewed a city hall insider and took the unusual step of allowing the insider to answer questions anonymously. Statements establishing a factual basis were confirmed by a second source before use in this article.

The interview confirmed how recently and under what circumstances FBI agents investigating allegations of wrongdoing were actively questioning city officials and employees.

FBI agents interviewed a number of city officials in the past month, the insider said. A second city hall figure confirmed to The Star Press that the interviews were conducted since the May 3 primary election.
