NAPPANEE — Aluminum Trailer Co., which has steadily grown since the nation's recession ended in 2009, will break ground this fall on a $5 million production facility.

The Nappanee trailer manufacturer is expected to create up to 40 jobs over the next three years as it grows into the 90,000-square-foot facility, said CEO Steve Brenneman, who founded the company in 1999. The plant is expected to open in the second quarter of 2017.

The structure will be the third production plant for the 200-employee company, which is headquartered on South Williams Street. The new facility, which will become the company's headquarters, will be built on County Road 101 near an existing 20,000-square-foot plant run by the company.

"We're going to move our two main production lines into the building, as well as our main office," said Brenneman, adding that the move will enable production to be expanded in other areas at its current 88,000-square-foot main building.
