ANDERSON – A third new business will be locating in the Applewood Center over the next few months.

Earlier this month it was announced that Hardee’s was returning to Anderson at the site of the former Grindstone Charley’s restaurant and in June the national clothing and home décor store Citi Trends signed a lease.

Paul Nicholson, chief operating officer for Scatterfield Road Associates LLC, said Friday that California-based Harbor Freight was coming to the Applewood Center.

Nicholson said Harbor Freight has signed a 10-year lease for the former Trader Baker’s and Office Max locations.

Harbor Freight is leasing 18,000 square feet in the shopping center. Nicholson said they sell power and hand tools.

“This is a wonderful addition because there is nothing like it in Anderson,” Nicholson said. “They’re eager to get opened.”

Currently there are Harbor Freight stores in Muncie, Indianapolis and Kokomo.

Harbor Freight Tools was started as a small family-owned business in 1977, according to the company’s website. The company says it offers more than 7,000 tools and accessories — hand tools and generators, air and power tools, shop equipment and automotive tools at discounted prices.

The Citi Trends store is expected to open by the end of July and Hardee's by the end of the year.
