MUNCIE — Because the Marsh supermarket chain ended a supply and distribution agreement, warehouses in Yorktown and Muncie will close, putting more than 180 people out of work.

About 72 people at the company's longtime Yorktown warehouse operation will see their jobs end because of the change.

Marsh has not responded to requests for comment in recent weeks from The Star Press, but job termination notices posted this week on the Indiana Department of Workforce Development website confirm the closings.

Between the warehouses at 2801 S. Marsh Ave. in Yorktown and 333 S. Franklin Road in Indianapolis, the jobs of 186 workers will be affected, according to the WARN notice filed with the state.

This is separate from the recent decision by Marsh to sell its 400,000-square-foot former warehouse space in Yorktown.

Indianapolis Logistics recently notified the state of Indiana, Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett and the Delaware County commissioners about the closings of logistics and haulage operations in Yorktown and Indianapolis.
