In-Fab receives tax abatement from Bedford City Council

BEDFORD — In-Fab Inc. was granted a tax abatement on equipment that will expand its capacity and increase its employee numbers by the Bedford City Council Tuesday at City Hall.

In-Fab is investing in new equipment estimated at $369,000 and includes a dual robotic welding station, milling machine and miller welder. The company anticipates hiring an additional 20 workers. It currently has about 95 workers. Employees earn about $14.65 per hour. Located at 2030 John Williams Blvd., In-Fab manufactures containers for automotive companies.

The abatement was brought before the city council following a recommendation for abatement by the Bedford Redevelopment Commission on Monday. In-Fab co-owner Darin McCullough said the investment gives the company a competitive edge and the potential for more growth. He said the business was recently awarded a contract by Toyota of Canada.

“We anticipate even more volume than we’ve had,” he said.

The abatement is for 10 years. The abatement is for 100 percent the first year, 90 percent the second year and so on for the life of the abatement.

The company also received tax abatements in 2015. Those abatements were for investments of $419,000 and $348,000.
