JGBowers, Inc. will not have to pay property taxes for at least five years on its new equipment, which the company says will bring in 15 new jobs.

The Marion City Council voted 8-0 at its regular meeting Tuesday to approve a five year, 100 percent tax abatement for a new production cell Advanced Cabinet Systems, which is owned by JGBowers, plans to use by the end of the month at its facility at 1629 S. Joaquin Dr. Council member Alan Miller was not present at Tuesday’s meeting.

Advanced Cabinet Systems makes cabinets for organizations, most notably K-12 school systems. The company has already hired five new employees and plans to hire more throughout the summer. The company employs about 60 full-time people.
