MUNCIE, Ind. — A 29-acre tract of undeveloped land on Morrison Road between Jackson Street and Petty Road is being purchased by a developer of residential senior care.

The property, which is overgrown, lies on the west side of the road between the Westbridge subdivision and the upscale Saddle Brook at Crapo Estates, the city's only gated community.

A 33,695-square-feet, 40-bed assisted living/memory care facility is planned on the front five acres of the tract, according to a zoning-variance petition filed with the Metropolitan Board of Zoning Appeals. It would employ about 30 people.

A variance is required because the property is zoned for residential use.

The petition indicates the buyer of the property is MCCI of Indiana, doing business as Lincolnshire Place, a memory care company with locations in Illinois and Fort Wayne affiliated with Senescent Healthcare.

Memory care facilities house patients with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and other memory problems.
