ELKHART — A longtime Elkhart audio manufacturing plant will be phased out over the next several months the company announced Thursday.

Crown Audio, a division of Harman Professional, which makes various audio devices for professional settings such as concert venues, will close its Elkhart plant, located at 1718 W. Mishawaka Rd. over the next several months, according to site leader Marc Kellom.

He said 115 employees would be effected.

According to Kellom, the plant was family owned from 1947 until it was acquired by Harman Professional in 2001.

The company is working on consolidating dozens of plants around the world to become a more efficient company, Kellom said.
