The cost of a traditional Thanksgiving meal is estimated to be 75 cents less than last year and the lowest since 2013 — so why not go ahead and pick up that extra can of cranberries. Total average cost of Thursday’s feast: $49.12.

That’s according to the American Farm Bureau Federation, which has been tracking the cost of Thanksgiving feasts since 1986. So what’s on the menu? Turkey, bread stuffing, sweet potatoes, rolls with butter, peas, cranberries, a veggie tray, pumpkin pie with whipped cream, and coffee and milk. The average cost is based on quantities to serve a family of 10, and with plenty for leftovers, according to the farm bureau group.

“The cost of the dinner is the lowest since 2013 and second-lowest since 2011. Even as America’s family farmers and ranchers continue to face economic challenges, they remain committed to providing a safe, abundant and affordable food supply for consumers at Thanksgiving and throughout the year,” director of market intelligence John Newton said in a prepared statement.

Locally, some items on the menu may be more expensive than last year, but the total cost is down for 2017.
