The Grant County Economic Growth Council held its Board of Directors Luncheon Tuesday. The council approved its 2018 budget as well. Executive Director Tim Eckerle said the budget remains in line with last year’s with only a couple additional sources of revenue. This includes some costs that were reimbursed along with programmatic income from Indiana Michigan Power.

Eckerle said the lease agreement the Growth Council and the City of Marion entered into with I&M that will allow the electric supplier to use part of the old Thomson site will net them some additional revenue. Eckerle said the company will use it as a storage site for utility poles.

The city and Growth Council have leased out the concrete pad just north of the old Thomson building, according to a Chronicle-Tribune article published earlier this year. Eckerle said back in August that the city and council will split the revenue 50-50.

The council also selected its board members for the coming year. They include:
