INDIANAPOLIS — Bloomington’s American Folklore Society Inc. was one of two arts providers in Indiana to receive funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. The Indiana Arts Commission recently announced that a total of $1,098,300 in grants will go to 12 Indiana arts organizations and cultural programming providers. 

“This round of grants marks one of the largest NEA investments in our state in nearly 10 years,” said Lewis C. Ricci, IAC executive director, in a news release. “These grants provide jobs to artists, arts administrators, and other creative workers with arts experiences for millions of Americans.” 

The American Folklore Society will receive $30,000. Other grants were given to:

Indiana Arts Commission, Indianapolis, $766,300; ArtMix Inc., Indianapolis, $25,000; Arts Council of Indianapolis, Indianapolis, $50,000; Indiana State Museum Foundation Inc. (Indiana State Museum & Historic Sites) Indianapolis, $25,000; Indiana State University, Terre Haute, $30,000; Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, $50,000; Indianapolis Art Center, Indianapolis, $25,000; Muncie Civic and College Symphony Association Inc. (Muncie Symphony Orchestra) Muncie, $10,000; New Harmony Project Inc., Indianapolis, $15,000; Rural Arts Alliance, Batesville,$50,000; and South Shore Arts Inc., Munster, $22,000.
