Decatur will unveil the art works that are part of its seventh annual sculpture tour at ceremonies that will begin at 6 p.m. June 8.
The 2018 Decatur Sculpture Tour, created to generate interest and traffic in downtown Decatur, has become an annual draw for visitors from a wide area.
The first sculpture to arrive for the outdoor show was "Harley," a life-sized rhino made of stock Harley Davidson mufflers, which is on Court Street. Additional permanent sculptures are scatted throughout the downtown area, including the Decatur Police Station and Pennsy Depot on 7th Street, and a sculpture that salutes Boy Scouts on 3rd Street. The sculptures will be on view for the next 10 months.
A variety of events lead up to the unveiling event on June 8, including children’s sculpture activities at Adams Public Library; meet the artists in Storybook Park; artist street gallery with food and musicians; wine/beer tent; youth dance performances; children’s chalk walk; sculpture unveiling by artists, and announcement of awards.
