Muncie business group hears about jobs, education

The breakfast meeting, for the Muncie-Delaware County Economic Development Alliance’s annual update on the Vision 2016 economic development program, was held in the Horizon Convention Center Tuesday.

Steve Moore, chairman of the Delaware Advancement Corporation board, talked about economic development like the expansion of local manufacturers including Magna — with more than 500 employees in two Cowan Road buildings — and businesses like Gill Brothers Furniture, which plans to build a distribution center.

Moore talked about ongoing goals of the Vision 2016 program, including job retention, job creation and marketing Muncie and Delaware County.

Moore noted that EDA participated in 25 site visits in the past year from companies considering Muncie and Delaware County for development and the staff made proposals to 50 companies considering locating here.
