ANDERSON – Muncie-based Ball Brothers Foundation has given a $50,000 grant for a beginning "makerspace" at the Purdue Polytechnic Anderson, slated to open in October.

The grant will go toward outfitting the site with CNC machines, 3D printing stations, fabrication equipment, sewing machines and hand tools, according to a press release.

Known as a makerspace, the site will be open for use by local builders, inventors and engineers and offer a place for students and community members to practice new skills with entry-level equipment. The beginning makerspace will be adjacent to the institute’s larger more-advanced makerspace.
