Broad Ripple media firm plans to add 90 workers

The company, which runs a popular millennial-focused website that crowd-sources articles from mostly student writers, said it plans to invest $1.4 million to expand its Indianapolis presence. Its headquarters is at 1002 Broad Ripple Ave., but officials noted that location won't accommodate all of the new hires, so they're looking for more space nearby.

The company's legal name is Olympia Media Group but it began using the Odyssey name in 2011.

The company has 54 employees at its New York and Indianapolis offices. Ten of the 90 expected new workers already have come on board, bringing local employment to 24.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Odyssey up to $570,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $30,000 in training grants based on the company’s job-creation plans.

The company in 2014 signed a $240,000 incentive deal with the IEDC to add 30 jobs by the end of 2015 to the seven it had at the time. The contract was renegotiated and replaced by the new deal after the firm received a tax credit of $2,894 and no training grants.
