One of the state’s largest private companies plans to expand operations into Whitestown.
Carmel-based Telamon Corp. announced Monday that its telecom division plans to occupy 111,000 square feet of a 242,000-square-foot building at AllPoints at Anson.
Telamon, a provider of services to telecom companies and other industries, is the third-largest minority-owned company in the Indianapolis area, based on local employment of 240. The company has more than 1,400 employees between nine locations in the U.S. and three international offices.
It ranks as the sixth-largest private company in the area and the 13th-largest private company in the state, based on 2014 revenue of $815 million.
Telamon plans to employ up to 50 individuals, which includes 14 new positions and 36 employee relocations, in the 600-acre industrial park east of Interstate 65 in Whitestown.
The development, led by Duke Realty Corp., is expected to eventually include 20 buildings with 8.1 million square feet. Existing tenants include Amazon.com, Express Scripts, Weaver Popcorn Co., Kenco and General Nutrition Corp.
Telamon Chief Operating Officer Stephanie Fuhrmann said the company decided to expand into Whitestown because of the easy access to I-65 and proximity to the existing Carmel headquarters on 116th Street to the east of Guilford Road.
“As our business continues to grow, Whitestown and Anson seem to provide the most flexibility with regards to future expansion,” Fuhrmann said in a written statement. “We are thrilled to be adding an additional site here and look forward to contributing to the growth of this area.”
Fuhrmann took over as COO after her father, Telamon founder Albert Chen, retired as CEO and chairman of the board in October. Former COO and Fuhrmann's brother, Stan Chen, became the new CEO.
Telamon is expected to invest $650,000 on equipment for the expansion and $452,630 on salaries for new employees that are expected to be hired no later than March 2017.
Switzerland-based REGO-FIX also announced plans Monday to move operations to AllPoints at Anson.
The company, which specializes in top-quality parts for aerospace, medical and power generation industries, will spend $2 million to construct an 18,000-square-foot facility that will serve as its new U.S. headquarters.
REGO-FIX’s existing U.S. headquarters is at 7752 Moller Road near the 79th Street and Zionsville Road intersection in Indianapolis.
The move will bring 22 jobs to Whitestown, of which 19 positions will be relocations from Indianapolis. One additional job will be added in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
“Whitestown represents the type of quality REGO-FIX values, and we are proud to be part of a growing and dynamic community,” Andreas Weber, REGO-FIX president, said in a written statement.
Construction on the new facility would begin in August and could be complete by February 2017.
Both Telamon and REGO-FIX are pursuing local tax incentives.
REGO-FIX is requesting a 10-year real property tax abatement expected to save the company $196,600. Telamon could receive a 10-year personal tax abatement worth $34,802.
Both incentive packages have to be approved by the Whitestown Town Council.
