ANDERSON – Madison County was one of only three counties in central Indiana to show an increase in home sales for the month of March, according to data provided by Indianapolis-based realtor F.C. Tucker.

Data for March shows home sales in Madison County as up 2.1 percent for the month with 145 houses being sold. For the year, home sales are up 13.1 percent.

Madison County ranks highest among nine Central Indiana counties for the first three months of the year, and the average sale price has increased for the month by 13.4 percent.

The cost of purchasing a house in Madison County rose from an average price of $79,298 to $89,901 in March.

Despite that increase, the average selling price of a Madison County house still trails the nine-county average of $76,245.

The report showed that for Madison County, the inventory of homes for sale fell by 9.6 percent, from 581 to 521 for the month.
