Changes are taking place along on Franklin Road, a short street running parallel to and east of Ind. 37 that is home primarily to restaurants such as the Golden Corral and hotels such as the Holiday Inn Express.
Two existing hotels in that area — the Fairfield Inn at 120 Fairfield Drive and the Townplace Suites at 105 S. Franklin Road — recently were purchased by hotel groups in Greenwich, Conn., according to county land sales data. The Fairfield Inn was sold for $8.847 million and the Townplace Suites was sold for $8.395 million. Representatives of the new owners, FH-Hotel Bloomington LP and FH-Hotel Franklin LP, could not be reached for comment.
A Cheddar’s restaurant soon will join the neighborhood, replacing the Scottish Inn at 126 S. Franklin Road, which will be demolished.
