An artist’s rendering included in the IU master plan looks south along the future North Woodlawn corridor, with multiuse academic buildings and trees lining a boulevard that links the Indiana Memorial Union, seen at the far end, with athletic facilities on 17th Street.
Future Indiana University students will stroll to football and basketball games from the core campus to the north athletic facilities along a bustling and pedestrian-friendly North Woodlawn Avenue.
Some will come from the quaint old buildings in the Wells Quadrangle that were renovated from academic and administrative offices into residence halls. Some will walk in from new parking facilities designed to serve the population density of the central campus.
And some will ignore the athletic facilities altogether and enjoy studying and outdoor activities along the verdant banks of the picturesque Jordan River, or taking walks through the spectacular, wooded campus.
The scenarios described above are all part of the 30-to-40-year vision laid out in the newly published, 319-page Campus Master Plan.
