MUNCIE -- Ball State University President Jo Ann Gora earned nearly four times the median salary of a full professor at BSU last year.

A typical public college leader earned three times as much in total compensation as the average full professor on his or her campus in 2010-11, according to an analysis published Monday by The Chronicle of Higher Education, a weekly national newspaper for academics.

Gora's total compensation for the year ending June 30, 2011, was $422,040, which was 3.9 times the median salary of a BSU professor ($109,000), The Chronicle reported.
