MUNCIE -- Average faculty salaries at Ball State University remain at the bottom of the Mid-American Conference and "far below" the national median for doctoral institutions, according to the annual faculty salary report released this week by the American Association of University Professors (AAUP).

The average salary for a full professor at BSU for 2011-12 was $85,500, which ranked last in the MAC and among the bottom 5 percent nationally among doctoral institutions. The salaries of BSU instructors, assistant professors and associate professors also fall "far below" the national median among doctoral institutions.

In response, Ball State officials proudly note that the university ranks near the bottom of the MAC and the nation in another category: tuition and fees.
