When Joan Bethell came to Indiana from Arizona five years ago to become executive director of the Greene County Economic Development Corp., she had visions, big ones, for the rural area.
Bethell hoped to engage private and government resources to build infrastructure while preserving the rich rural nature of the state’s fourth-largest county.
She hailed Interstate 69 and development of the WestGate @ Crane Technology Park as paths to Greene County’s future.
At the same time, Bethell recognized the value of making the most of local assets, which range in scope from the Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center to the abundant outdoor nature opportunities offered by the Goose Pond Fish and Wildlife Area.
