The Richmond Board of Public Works and Safety this week hired an Indianapolis firm to begin work on another Stellar Communities project in the city.

The board of works hired Rundell Ernstberger Associates LLC to design bicycle lanes and pedestrian safety plans for three sections of streets in and around downtown Richmond.

It is the second Stellar Communities project the city now has under contract. Earlier this month, the city also hired Rundell Ernstberger to do engineering, design, surveying and other tasks for the planned Seventh Street Park.

For the the second project, Rundell Ernstberger will design bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements for East Main Street from First to Seventh Streets, Seventh from Main to Fort Wayne Avenue, and 10th Street from Main to North E Street.

Rundell Ernstberger will be paid $722,680, with 80 percent coming from the Indiana Department of Transportation, through Stellar Communities, and 20 percent as a local match.
