State panel floats ideas for taming property tax

NDIANAPOLIS - Hoosiers angry about property taxes could see the money's elimination if they were willing to pay a 9 percent income tax rate or 13.2 percent sales tax rate instead.

That is what it would take to cover the 2007 net property tax levy of $6.1 billion that goes to finance local government and schools.
