No layoffs under Monroe County reorganization proposal

A proposal to restructure the county’s civil departments — not sheriff, courts or other justice-related offices — wouldn’t require any staff layoffs, said Monroe County Council President Vic Kelson.

And even though the plan calls for professional heads of four new departments, it would only cost $20,000 to $30,000 to implement, and ultimately save the county much more than that in personnel costs, he said.
