MUNCIE -- Teresa Hancock, 56, no longer feels like the oldest student at Ivy Tech Community College in Muncie.
She knows several displaced factory workers in her classes this fall who are older than she, "which is kind of nice."
"The economy is sending more of us back to school," she said.
The recession is one explanation for the 30.2-percent increase in enrollment at the Muncie campus.
