Proposed Indiana House maps have two area Republicans running against each other and one new district without an incumbent.
Rep. Jeff Espich, R-Uniondale, and Rep. Dan Leonard, R-Huntington, both live in the new House District 50, which would cover all of Huntington County and parts of Wells and Allen counties.
"It's an unfortunate circumstance. It's not something I relish," Espich said. "He's my friend and we'll have to see what the people think."
A new House District 82 is open under the proposed map. It covers all of Noble County and small parts of Elkhart, Whitley, LaGrange and Allen counties.
