LOGANSPORT — Cass County councilmen this morning unanimously approved an agreement with the city of Logansport for hiring a shared building commissioner.

The plan calls for the city to pay $90,000 this year to help pay for the building commissioner, an assistant and operating expenses for the office. Fees collected this year will be used to cover those expenses in future years.

The Logansport City Council will consider the agreement at its March 6 meeting.

Under the agreement, the partnership will remain in place until at least July 1, 2014, unless the majority of both the Cass County Council and Logansport City Council votes to end the arrangement. After that date, the partnership can be terminated following a majority vote by just one of the parties.
