The State Board of Accounts is amenable to reorganization of county government civil departments, said Monroe County Council attorney Michael Flory at a council work session Tuesday night.

A preliminary proposal to form a matrix structure with land, financial, public works and operation departments would allow staff sharing among departments and elected officials at various times of year.

Flory said he and county attorney Jeff Cockerill have discussed such a plan with SBOA officials, specifically regarding responsibilities constitutionally or statutorily assigned to specific elected officials that, under reorganization, might be carried out by staff from a different office.
