The Joint Commission on City-County Government met for the first time Tuesday in the Wayne County Administration Building for a crash course on how local government works.

The two-hour public meeting was a launch pad for the 15-member committee as it identifies ways for Richmond and Wayne County government to collaborate and cut spending amid continued economic challenges in east-central Indiana.

“Our goal is that maybe you can give us some ideas,” Wayne County Commissioner President Ken Paust said.
