In a lively 90-minute discussion in the Wayne County Administration Building on Wednesday night, several of the members of Richmond Common Council and Wayne County Council moved toward common ground.

Their meeting was set to begin discussions aimed at finding ways to share tasks and cut expenses. And after the discussion, both sides believed a first step was taken toward that goal.

"I think this was a starting point and I think a starting point has to be that we both understand each other," said county councilman Jeff Plasterer. "For us to collaborate effectively we have to know the ground rules. We have to know what each other does."
