Commercial space requested for new downtown Bloomington Marriott hotel plan

Developers of a hotel at College Avenue and Ninth Street have been put on notice by members of the Bloomington Plan Commission: They expect to see some commercial space on Morton Street when the proposal comes back to them next month.

The KPM Hotel Group is seeking site plan approval for a 155-room, five- to six-story SpringHill Suites by Marriott Hotel on property that fronts College, Ninth and Morton streets. Directly north at 519 N. College Ave. is the historic Woodburn House owned by Indiana University. The commission approved plans in 2008 for a 100-room hotel on the same site with a different developer, who could not complete the project.
