The Indiana Department of Transportation is moving ahead with planning for Section 5 of the Interstate 69 project through Monroe County, even though a source of funding for that segment has not been identified.

An INDOT spokeswoman said notifications were mailed Monday to property owners whose land might be subject to preliminary surveys or other investigations needed to prepare required environmental documents for the Federal Highway Administration.

Section 5 follows Ind. 37 roughly from Tapp Road to Ind. 39 in Morgan County. Initial work is expected to start Monday or later and continue until it is completed, according to an INDOT news release.
